Moss and Weed Control
Regular treatment for moss and weeds is critical because these aggressive invaders directly compete with your grass for essential water, sunlight and soil nutrients. When left unchecked, fast-spreading weeds and suffocating moss can quickly overpower turf, leaving your lawn looking patchy, uneven and discoloured. Consistent weed and moss control ensures your grass has the space and resources it needs to form a dense, carpet-like root system that naturally resists future infestations. (Weed and moss control are included in both the Essential and Enhanced packages).

Scarifying
Scarifying your lawn is vital to remove thatch—the suffocating layer of dead grass, moss and roots. A thick thatch layer acts like a waterproof barrier, blocking essential water, air, and fertiliser from reaching the root zone. It also traps surface moisture, which triggers fungal diseases and shallow rooting. Mechanical scarification slices through this debris, opening the soil so your lawn can breathe and absorb nutrients efficiently. Although your turf looks patchy immediately afterward, this deep clean stimulates vigorous, thick, and resilient new growth. (Yearly scarification comes as standard in the enhanced package and essential package)

Hollow Tining
Hollow tining is a crucial aeration process that punches deep holes into your lawn to remove plugs of soil. This physical extraction instantly relieves soil compaction, which naturally happens over time from foot traffic and lawn mowing. Compacted soil starves grass roots of oxygen and forces them to stay shallow, but hollow tining opens deep pathways for air, water and nutrients to reach the root zone. It also shatters heavy clay and improves surface drainage, preventing moss from taking over damp patches. Ultimately, this deep-core aeration encourages your grass to grow a massive, resilient root system that can survive harsh weather. (Hollow tining comes as standard in the enhanced package and is a paid for optional extra in the essential package)

Lawn Disease treatment
Most lawn diseases are caused by fungi that are naturally present in the soil. However, these fungi only become active and attack the grass plant when the turf is under stress. Common stressors include poor soil nutrition, improper mowing, inadequate watering and soil compaction. Fungicides can provide a quick, temporary fix when an infection is aggressive, but they don’t address the root cause. If the underlying environmental or maintenance issues—like poor drainage or nutrient deficiency—aren’t corrected, the disease will likely return. The best long-term approach is proactive, cultural care (ie feeding and looking after your lawn).

Pest Control
Kedleston Lawn Care do not add pest control to their packages as there’s a good chance most customers won’t need it (why pay for something you don’t need?). If your lawn does suffer from common pests such as leatherjackets or chaffer grubs we use Nemotodes to deal with them. Please see the FAQ’s section on common lawn pests to find out more.

Seasonal Fertilising
Seasonal fertilising provides grass with the specific nutrients it needs to thrive through changing weather conditions. Spring and summer feeds deliver nitrogen to promote lush, green leaf growth, while autumn applications use potassium to strengthen roots and improve winter resilience. By consistently replenishing vital elements, this targeted routine ensures a dense, healthy lawn that naturally resists weeds and disease.
